Our History
Community Vision
In 1974, a group of forward-thinking community members met to explore the idea of opening a local medical clinic. Just one year later, in June 1975, the first clinic opened in front of the Women’s Club Building on Silver Street in downtown Lake City.
1974
First Permanent Facility
By 1990, the need for a larger, permanent facility was clear. A groundbreaking was held that year, and in 1991 medical services moved to a new building at 700 North Henson Street.
1991
District Formation
In 2002, the clinic began operating under the Lake Fork Health Service District (LFHSD), a special taxing district created to stabilize and expand access to quality healthcare for residents and visitors of Hinsdale County. The LFHSD Board led the effort to expand the clinic, guiding fundraising, design, and construction of a new facility.
2002
Moseley Health Care Complex
The result was the Moseley Health Care Complex, named in honor of Jack and Kathy Moseley for their vital role in bringing the project to completion. Opened in 2011, the 10,600-square-foot facility features a 7,000-square-foot medical clinic with expanded exam rooms, dedicated procedure areas, and modern technology to support a wider range of services. The clinic provides increased capacity for primary care, urgent care, and visiting specialists—ensuring greater access to comprehensive healthcare for the community.
The original 3,600-square-foot clinic on the property was remodeled to house EMS facilities, allowing the new clinic to focus entirely on patient care. A dual-ambulance garage, EMS offices, and training space now strengthen the community’s emergency response capabilities.
